A short history

➤ All about the history

Teco Munteme was founded in 1978 by Father Karl Hartl, a member of the White Fathers. The White Fathers worked under the Diocese of Hoima in various church projects to support and develop rural communities. The Teco Munteme was conceived as a boarding school providing handicraft training for primary school leavers. From 1980 to 1995, the construction and development of the project was accompanied and supported by volunteer development workers from Interteam Lucerne. The financial resources for the development were primarily provided by the commitment of the volunteers as well as by the aid organisation Miserior Germany.

In 1995, the official Swiss involvement ended and the school was henceforth run by local forces.
